The California Dept. of Public Health (CDPH) is considering a petition to require warning labels on dye-containing foods and supplements sold in the state. This regulation would be the first of its kind in the United States and could have impacts that extend far beyond California.
We all know how difficult and time-consuming it is to constantly be on the lookout for dyes in the foods we serve our kids. A petition pending in California could change that and it could impact us all.
CDPH has scheduled a virtual hearing on April 11, 2023 at 10:30am Pacific Time to gather information before ruling on this petition.
The hearing is open to the public, and people like you and I can testify, both orally and in writing.
If you and your family have been negatively impacted by dyes—and especially if you live in California—please consider testifying at the hearing and sending written testimony urging CDPH to take this long overdue action to protect our children.
To attend the virtual hearing, which will be held on Microsoft Teams, use this link: https://bit.ly/P-22-001Hearing.
Written testimony can be submitted after the hearing up until May 12, 2023, and should be sent to this email address: FDBcomments@cdph.ca.gov.
Some of the world’s top experts and advocates on food dye safety will be at the hearing. I hope you’ll be there too! Let's be the kind of people who make change!
I will personally be sending a written testimony, attending the meetings, and hopefully testifying. There is power in numbers, so please join me! Visit Center for Science in the Public Interest for more information.
